Strong Kids Program Structure

YMCA Strong Kids is an eight week resistance training program in which participants take part in three, 45 minute sessions per week. These sessions will consist of total body workouts using a combination of exercises and a variety of equipment, such as dumbbells, elastic bands and medicine balls. All training sessions are supervised by qualified exercise specialists.
All participants undertake an extensive assessment program, providing motivation and feedback to both parents and children. At the completion of the program, each participant will receive a copy of their individual results, as well as a certificate of participation.

By the end of the program, children will have gained the necessary lifelong skills to help them manage their body composition into the future.

To encourage schools to continue with the program after the initial eight weeks, they will be provided with all the essential equipment and a resource kit. They will also have the opportunity to nominate a school representative to complete a Certificate III in Fitness through YMCA’s training centre. This will provide them with the required expertise to enable them to sustain the program and therefore maintain the health and fitness of their students.

Students, parents and teachers will also have the opportunity to attend a nutritional seminar, conducted through ECU and Perth YMCA.
