Resistance Training
What is resistance training?
Resistance training is any exercise that causes the muscles to contract against an external resistance. The external resistance can be dumbbells, resistance bands, medicine balls, your own body weight, or any other object that causes the muscles to contract.
Benefits of resistance training
There are numerous health benefits associated with resistance training. These include:
- Weight management
- Improved strength, power and muscular endurance
- Improved concentration and academic performance
- Improved joint function
- Increased strength of bones, tendons and ligaments
